Winner to pay $35.00 for UPS Ground Shipping to the lower 48. Although the guitar did not come with a case, I am including an after-market hardshell SG case that fits it just fine. What amazed me now is how good the neck really is, nothing like the horrid memories of when I was first starting out. If you began playing guitar in the West end of the San Fernando Valley in the late 60s to early 70s, you probably started out on something like this.
The serial number plate is firmly attached to the back of the body below the neck plate. The three-tone sunburst is still strong and vibrant. The volume and tone pots roll smoothly with no scratching. It's got a good, straight and comfortable neck.
The neck could use oil and the frets some dressing. T is some pitting on the hardware with less on the pickup and more on the tailpiece and bridge. The guitar's performance does not seem to be hampered by this flaw and it should be a fairly simple thing to fix (your luthier will know for sure.) Still, I must point this item out so as to be as accurate in describing this guitar as possible. I have no idea as to how this occurred since this area is not stress-related to the body-neck junction.
T is a 1 1/4" crack in the side of the body next to w the neck joins the body. However, this should be a simple thing to fix, either by super-gluing the pieces back together and/or securing a small clear piece of plastic over the top of the pickguard to better handle the stress of being plugged in. Right now the pieces are being held together by tape on the backside.
The area around the jack has also broken into a number of pieces from the stress of the cord being plugged into the guitar. The pickguard has three holes drilled in it w a second pickup was temporarily attached to the guitar as indicated by the red arrows in the photo. The Teisco Del Rey nameplate on the headstock has some leftover residue from an STP sticker (thanks David Crosby!) that was placed over it and left t for quite some time. In addition to the usual small dings and dents of use, it does have some issues I wish to divulge. Overall, I would say the instrument is in good condition, having been played consistently for the first few years before being locked away in storage. It has remained in the family ever since. My brother purchased this guitar new from the Thrifty Drug Store on Topanga Canyon Blvd in Canoga Park in February, 1971. Up for auction is a 1971 Teisco E-110 1-pickup solidbody electric guitar.
